I think it was a couple weeks ago, me Trav, Les and Pee went to Kahala Mall to check out the classic car show they had going on there. Lot of familiar cars, but there was one that stuck out like a sore thumb. This 67′ Camaro is one of the cleanest cars I have ever seen. I actually seen this car back in February at Hawaii Kai. I didn’t get a chance to look at it up close until now, and man this thing is awesome. 18″ X 15.5″!!! How’s that for some dish!

Hulu

So as I’ve mentioned before, I usually have lots of free time. I believe it was around the Super Bowl when Hulu commercials started showing up on TV. I never really caught on to what it actually was, but one day decided to visit it. All I can say is…Hulu is AWESOME!

It almost replaces cable TV. You can watch all the newest TV shows whenever you want, nearly commercial free, as many times as you want, over and over again. The quality is better than the actual network websites, and it’s absolutely FREE! I caught up on The Office, Parks and Recreation, Damages, Royal Pains, some SNL shit, and also got to watch some old classic movies like 3 o’Clock High, North Shore, Sideout, etc.

If there’s a show you’re in to, and can’t find the time to watch it, and if you don’t have DVR, then Hulu is the answer.

FIKSE!!!

So I’ve been helping Trav get wheels for his current project, a 69′ Camaro RS/SS. He always wants the best stuff, so when it came to wheels, there were few options. There aren’t very many companies that make wheels that (1) look right on a tubbed Camaro or (2) fit right on a tubbed Camaro. Just so happens Fikse called one day asking if I wanted to be a dealer for their wheels, and I said OK.

The sales guy was really cool, and Trav went back and forth about getting some Fikse’s. He eventually decided on some 18″X12″ Profil 5’s for the rear. I always admired Fikse, but never actually saw one in person until now. Anyway, they are quite impressive. But I must say, that they really lack in customer service. My original sales rep, no longer works there, and apparently no one else knew what the status of the wheels were from day-to-day. I originally wanted them shipped to Trav’s house, but because no one ever returned my calls, they instead got sent to Maui, and to the wrong address no less.

Crazy Day

JACKSON_FAWCETT

Today was a crazy day. The death of Pop’s greatest icon, Michael Jackson. Regardless of what he’s been accused of, or of what he’s done in recent times, he is still probably one of the greatest entertainers to ever walk the earth. Also the death of Farrah Fawcett. I never really watched Charlie’s Angels prior to the Diaz, Liu, Barrymore edition, but she looked pretty hot way back when. Anyway a moment of silence for them…

NBA_DRAFT

Also happening today was the 2009 NBA Draft. I haven’t made a sports post yet, so here it goes. So for those who don’t really know me, don’t be surprised by my depth in sports. It’s something I’ve always had a interest in and continue to till today.

In my opinion, the draft that had a lot of teams not really addressing their needs. Obviously there were some teams that helped themselves out. Blake Griffin to Los Angeles, Thabeet to Memphis, Harden in OKC, even DeRozan to Toronto.  All these teams seemed to have helped themselves out.

But Minnesota drafting three point guards? Tyreke Evans going to Sacramento to what? Backup Kevin Martin? Steph Curry to Golden State to learn from Monta Ellis? Or Utah selecting Eric Maynor to backup Deron Williams? More than likely the T’Wolves will be moving some of these guards out, but there were more pressing needs for the other three teams that I mentioned above, especially with the Kings. I’ve been reading that Steph Curry could be headed to Phoenix which I think would be great. Steve Nash is aging and may not actually be in Phoenix next year, but we’ll see.

SHAQ_VINCE

Also going on in the NBA was the finalizing of the trade of Shaq to Cleveland, and the trade of Vince Carter to the Magic. I really don’t know how much Shaq will help LeBron. He’s old, he’s slow, he’s old. I thought Cleveland could really use some outside help, and with the free agency period coming up, he may get that. We’ll just have to wait and see. As far as Orlando getting Carter, I think it definitely puts them in the driver’s seat to repeat as Eastern Conference champions. Although he too is climbing up in age, he’s still a very explosive player with a decent jumpshot. It kind of closes the door on them resigning Hedo Turkoglu, but if they can pick up some help in the draft and possibly a veteran in free agency, I really like their chances.

Good News + Bad News

So everybody usually takes the “bad news” first. Bad News is my fuckin’ MacBook Pro went to shit. I go to turn it on one morning and the screen is blank. Go figure. So I go down to the Kahala Apple Store and lucky for me Shawnis was there. He diagnosed it and the video card crapped out. He said its kinda common so he sent it out to get repaired. Cool beans! Anyway I’ve been out of a computer for a while, hence no new posts. Just got a MacBook to use for now, so I’ll be posting a little bit more.

And now the Good News!

So I was reading somebody’s (don’t remember who) blog last week and came across Freshjive’s Summer releases. Scrolling through the blog I saw this shirt, and it was an instant must have. I tried looking at a few sites that sell Freshjive, but no one had it up yet. So I called a Freshjive dealer, (forgot the name of that one too) and they told me they don’t do phone orders. WTF is up with that? That chick wasn’t so friendly, so whatever, I searched around a little more and found Premier Boutique. The girl was real helpful and said they had just sold the last black one, so they only had white. Whatever. I’m stoked!

Ol’ Skool Post: My 1st Shoot

LEN

I guess this was around 2000/2001 or something. I was always fascinated with photography but never really got deep into it like some of my friends. I think I had a Sony DSC-Something, maybe 3 megapixels, I really have no idea. Anyway, Len had a photoshoot setup with some local magazine (which I don’t recall the name of either), and I decided to tag a long. These guys came down, looked all professional and everything, did their thing and they left.

Not wanting to get in their way, after they left I did my own little shoot. I remember Buda being there too, and I used him as a model in the shoot. It was pretty funny, but actually turned out pretty good. I could only find a couple shots and I may have to dig around more to find some of those pics. BTW, thanks for the SSR’s Frankie!

So me and Goo-Man went down to the dock to pickup a load of tires that just shipped in. While getting our stuff out of the container we came across this monstrosity. We decided to roll it out to get a better look, and we came across the size, 380/90R46!!! Damn. I don’t even know what the hell this goes on. Anyway while we had it out, we decided to have some fun with it.

So ever since my roommate bought a boat, we’ve been eating fish every week. So far we’ve eaten Ahi, Aku, and Mahi. Ahi has been the most common, and with every catch I’ve tried to perfect my sashimi cutting skills. Fresh Ahi is the best for sashimi, as you can tell around New Year’s, the price of Ahi always rises. But when you can catch your own, well hell, it doesn’t really get any fresher than that.

Fresh Ahi just melts in your mouth, at least that’s what I hear. I hate raw fish, but if you need some help cutting it, holla!

Oh and the Lakers won again, in a game that was totally winnable by Orlando. Not like I really care who wins, I really could care less. I don’t care for Dwight Howard, and I don’t really care for KB24. But I will say that if the Lakers do not win, then it will probably be one the biggest disappointments in sports history.

Lots of Time…

June 6, 2009 · Leave a Comment

First off, I’ve got lots of time. Most guys who keep up with their blogs, I’m assuming have lots of time. I’ve had a couple blogs in the past, none of which I’ve ever kept up with. I’m hoping this one will be different.

Secondly, 9six represents every zip code in Hawaii. 96701=Aiea, where I grew up, 96793=Wailuku, where I frequent a lot, and the list goes on. So basically, I guess I’ve got some different views/experiences from different areas in Hawaii. I’ll also be posting my opinions on other things like sports, cars, whatever. Anyway, I hope I entertain the two, maybe three people who may actually read this. Til’ next time…enjoy!
